Our professor instructed us to take an Adversity
Quotient test (AQ Test) and Emotional Intelligence Test (EQ Test), in subject
Technopreneurship. He said that it is for us to know more ourselves and if we
have the potential to become a
technopreneur. According to Stoltz in 1997, the Adversity Quotient is an
oppositional, scale-based, forced-choice questionnaire designed to gauge an
individual’s resilience, that is, their capacity to respond constructively to difficulties, and by eliciting
their hardwired response pattern to a broad range of adverse events (http://www.peaklearning.com/about_aq-profile_technical-data.php).
On the other hand, Emotional Quotient,
according to Daniel Goleman is an Author and Science journalist, Emotional
Intelligence (EI) or Emotional Quotient (EQ) is
referred as the ability to understand, recognize, and to manage our own emotions. Also, Emotional
Quotient (EQ) is the ability to understand, recognize, and, to influence the emotions of the other. By definition, Adversity
Quotient (AQ) test and Emotional Quotient (EQ) Test is letting us know more
about ourselves, also to learn and understand how to control ourselves. Now I
understand why our professor instructed us to take the Adversity Quotient (AQ)
test and the Emotional Quotient (EQ) Test. The Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is
the term created by the two researchers Peter Salovey and John Mayer since
1990s, but Daniel Goleman popularized this. (https://www.ihhp.com/meaning-of-emotional-intelligence)
Last day, I took the Adversity Quotient
(AQ) Test by Paul Stoltz, Ph. D., I observed that each question is testing ourselves
about how we handle scenarios which more likely industrial context or in a
business context, or an entrepreneurial context. The questions are more likely on
a situational basis. Upon answering, I got quite uncertain in my answers
because I do not know if I answered each question with sincerity and honesty.
Because each question is situational and you have to answer those questions
correctly or ethically (what we should do or think in that situation, referring
to our thoughts and not satisfying the others’). The Adversity Quotient (AQ)
Test, is offering around twenty (20) situational questions and has five (5)
choices which are a range of the extent that you will handle such situation. It
numbers from one to five (1 - 5), from (for example) Not responsible at all to
Completely Responsible (Rate each situations from one to five (1 - 5)). To enumerate
a few of the questions of the Adversity Quotient (EQ) Test, the few questions
are as follows: You are criticized for a big project that you just completed. The
high-priority project that you are working on gets canceled. Someone you respect ignores your attempt to
discuss an important issue. People respond unfavorably to your latest ideas. After
extensive searching, you cannot find an important document. You never seem to
have enough money. Your boss adamantly disagrees with your decision.

Upon answering
the Adversity Quotient (AQ) Test, the questions that I mentioned above are the
questions that are which I believe, are related to our subject the
Technopreneurship. Technopreneurship is entrepreneurship with intensive
relation to technology. However, after answering the Adversity Quotient (AQ)
Test, the answers will be comprised of four CORE dimensions. Also, the first
step would be to understand the improvement of our response to adversity,
increasing our capacity, and increasing our overall Adversity Quotient score.
The scores of each CORE dimensions will be sum up and will be multiplied by two
(2). To fully understand the scoring please refer to the link above. The
average Adversity Response Profile (ARP) score is 147.5. Thus, the higher the
score, the better. If you scored higher than the average, then you already
mastered the CORE dimensions of Adversity Response Profile. These dimensions of Adversity Respond Profile made me realize that the
CORE dimensions are related to Technopreneurship. If we want to become a
technopreneur, we have to have at least an average
score and above in Adversity Quotient (AQ) Test. Because becoming a technopreneur is very difficult and
intimidating. You have to exert more effort to achieve our goals on becoming a
technopreneur.
After
answering the Adversity Quotient (AQ) Test, I only got a below average
Adversity Response Profile (ARP) score of 120.5, and the average score is
147.5. It means that I am very low in the CORE dimensions of the Adversity
Response Profile (ARP). However, it means that I have to improve myself in
terms of the CORE dimensions. I have to have a very good ability to control the
adverse situation. I should have a very good sense of ownership so that I will have accountability
in dealing with adverse situations
without thinking of the cause that I might encounter. I should be very good at reaching out to the people, to co-workers,
for achieving very good teamwork. And lastly, I should have very high endurance. It means that I should not
easily give up on things, especially in
achieving the goals. I should not easily give up in becoming a Technopreneur
someday.
After the Adversity Quotient (AQ)
Test. I then took the Emotional Quotient (EQ) test (https://www.memorado.com/). I got a score of 117, and it means that I have an
Emotional Quotient (EQ) Test score of above 10%. The score is has an equivalent
emotional type of PEMW. It means that I am Persistent, Empathetic, Emotional,
and Welcoming person. The test scores that I got means that I am weak in
understanding and accepting my emotions and personality. Also, the PEMW score
state that I should spend some time on reflecting about my emotions and
behavior, spotting out what are my strength and weaknesses. Moreover, PEMW also
means that I am excellent listener, I have a great intuition about people’s
mood and intention, and also that I am best at fulfilling their needs
particularly meeting the customer’s need. It also states that I am generally
flexible and low-key. That I can adapt to any kind of social organization,
having a very good understanding about the hierarchy and the relations between
the members of any social group. That it allows me to fit corporate
organization very easily. These traits that the PEMW results states are just a
part of the whole description. Just to make it short. The results of Emotional
Quotient Test, it made me realize that I have a potential on achieving the
goals that I wanted to achieve. That I have an ability to master the CORE
dimensions of Adversity Quotient Test. The traits of PEMW result is very good
traits to have on becoming a technopreneur someday. All I have to do is to have
a courage and be determined to become a Technopreneur.
