Meeting 4 – Reflection
In this meeting we discussed
about the Idea Business Generation. It is all about generating business ideas
that utilizes using technology. And also, we discussed about on how we generate
ideas that are something new, something first, and something interesting.
Moreover, we also discussed about identification of problems and its solution,
as well as identification of opportunities. Our professor is encouraged us to
think ideas from time to time. Because he emphasizes that graduating college is
not just the key to success, but also having a business or entrepreneurship is
also a key to success. Every meeting, every entering in our classroom, it
always remind of the mindset that focuses on finishing school and have a
high-paying job. That is why he is very eager to encourage us to think our
potentials in becoming a technopreneur or at least have a technopreneurial
mindset. It is also because enterprising could help to solve that lack of
opportunities in our country. Currently, our country is lack of opportunities.
It does not accommodate all of the good graduates that want to work in their
homeland, which is lead them to work in other countries. That is problem that
is difficult to solve immediately. For this problem to solve, our professor
introduced the subject Technopreneurship, which is all about having a mindset
of entrepreneurship which be utilized using technology.
Identification of problems is
very simple. Problems could be found in every corner of our surroundings. It
could be inside our homes, in roads, and every activities that we do every day.
Problem identification is literally be found in our environment. That the
difficult part is that solving each of the problem that we could identify. Even
if the is very simple, it is still difficult for us to solve that particular
problem. Even though we are now in a modern era. We have now a very high-end
technology that could help us to solve, or at least reduce that problem scope.
Our technology, even if it is now high-end, we cannot solve the problem
immediately. Because, it is not just identifying problems but also identifying
the cause of the problem. It is important to us to identify the cause, or the
root of the problem. Identifying the cause, it is also identifying the possible
solution to that problem. Once we identify the cause, we can now understand the
effects of the problem. With that, we can now understand the situation. And
also for us to learn more knowledge, and we could think of good solutions, and
as well as we could prevent the problem from occurring again. In addition, it
is not just identifying current problems but also identifying the possible
problems that will occur in the future. It is also about anticipating problems
and thinking solutions ahead.
Currently, our country which
is the Philippines is now in crisis, in a situation that is difficult that
needs to be resolved immediately. And it is in a crisis of lacking of
opportunities. In early years, we do not
feel the crisis as we only a very less of population in past years. But now, we
are over populated, which is also why we have this problem, lack of
opportunities. Though, we could say that we have enough opportunities, the
thing is that we are over populated. Thus, the problem is not just about the
opportunities but it is also about the people. It is about the discipline, it
is about how we handle things, how we make opportunities available for us, and
not just waiting for opportunities to come to us. That is not how life works.
We have to think of good solution for us to survive in this crisis. Moreover,
this is also why our professor keep encouraging us to change our mindset that
focuses on getting a high-paying job after we finish college. For us to solve
the crisis, we have to think of a solution that will help to stop or at least
reduce the crisis. Changing our mindset from ‘getting a high-paying job after
finishing college’ to ‘create a company and be the boss’, this mindset is
called Technopreneur mindset. I agree that changing our usual mindset to Technopreneur
mindset is a very good idea to resolve the crisis we are having right now.
Thus, becoming a Technopreneur is also providing opportunities to others. And
also, we are now creating our company, we hire our own employees. We are not
seeking opportunities but we provide opportunities. There is really a big
difference between the usual mindset and the Technopreneur mindset. In
additional, the only difficult in becoming Technopreneur is how we generate an
idea that will lead to create an opportunities to others. Also, because becoming
a Technopreneur is not just about idea generation but also having a broad
knowledge about entrepreneurship, we must have be creative, skilled in
communication, and we must have passion to be a Technopreneur. Although, not everyone
has a potential in becoming Technopreneur, at least we have to try to think,
and at least change our mindset for a while. Because we cannot achieve success
if we do not take big risk. Once in a while, we should at least try new things,
for us to learn more knowledge, and learn more about life. And also, taking big
risk is part of being a Technopreneur.
As a college student, seeking
opportunities or a job is difficult as it is required that must have an experience
in that particular job. Also, I always thought that having a high-paying job is
enough regardless of the field of the job. Even the job is not the same field
as the Information Technology which is the field I am currently taking. Though,
some people are very successful in life even though they do not finish college,
having their own business. And most likely, they are an entrepreneur. They
provide opportunities to the people who in need a job. They even provide
opportunities for others to be also a successful entrepreneur. Thus, it caused me
to be confused if I should become an entrepreneur or not, because being
entrepreneur could make us have a very good career in life. Also because we
could achieve more in life. Being a student is difficult because there are a
lot of things that I should think and things to consider. That we have to do
well in academics so that we could have a degree and find a good opportunities
in the future.
There are a lot of
opportunities everywhere, we only need to be more attentive to our
surroundings. We have to be creative and determined to have an opportunity so
that we will achieve our goals in life. The only issue in finding opportunities
is that we do not have courage and we are lack of determination. Maybe it is the
effect of the crisis of lack of opportunities. It changes the mindsets of the
people, they lose hope in finding opportunities, and thus, it lead them to seek
opportunities to other countries. Hence, our country will be less of human
resources because they are now helping other countries to be more developed
countries. Which is also lead our lack of human resources to help to develop
our own industries. Which is why our country is now behind, and still a
developing country. We our country is still in a progress of becoming a
developed country. Enterprising is maybe the key to resolve this crisis, but
then again, not all people have a potential be become an entrepreneur. It is
difficult to others and including me to become an entrepreneur. There are a lot
of things that need to learn, and skills that are need to be more developed.
The process of becoming entrepreneur difficult and requires a lot of effort. That
is why the subject Technopreneurship we have right now is the key to find a
good entrepreneurship. It changes that mindset of the students and other people
to be more entrepreneurial thinker, and encourages students to think of an idea
that will lead them to success. But at the end of that day, the only matters is
the idea that will lead to provide opportunities to others who in need. An idea
that opens a gate for others to be also a successful entrepreneur. In addition,
maybe we do not lack skills to become entrepreneur but what we have lacking
right now is the idea or a solution to success, and that could help other to be
successful. The idea that is unique, and something first in the industry
matters. And what the things that we have to consider right now are the
identification of problems, providing a solution of that particular problem,
and providing an opportunities to the people to become successful in life.
We identify problem and then
we provide a solution. That is the common process we always do. But we do not
anticipate the things that may cause a crisis. Thus, it results to have more
problems. For me, anticipation is also the key for us to become a successful
technopreneur. Because, it help us to create a solution before the occurrence
of the problem. We should plan ahead, and anticipate the unwanted events that
we do not want to happen, or we do not want to have a severe problem, which may
lead to difficulty to in resolving that problem. Problems could tangible, and
problems may be an idea we have in mind.
We could even have a problem during the process of creating a solution
for that particular problem. Problems will occur anytime, it will come before
we realize it. Problems come in different forms that is why it is difficult for
us to come up an idea to resolve problem. And also, it is important to be good
in anticipating problems, and not just being good in resolving problems.
Though, this may differs to other people, and it is all up to their preferred way
to resolve problem. However, resolving problem should undergo a proper process
as it may cause another problem which cannot be resolved anymore. In addition,
we also need to think of the timing of resolving problem. If resolving the problem right away is the
best move, and if resolving the problem right away will immediately provide
opportunities or not. However, we also need to think who and what are the
things that may be affected after we resolve the crisis. We should think that
it is may be a common good or not. That it is good to all of the people.
Now that we are in a modern
era, resolving is quite easy because of our high-end technology. We have now a
lot of good researchers that always find a way to resolve crisis. Developers
that always trying to develop a very good technology. We also have
Technopreneurs that always think of a technological idea, and continue to
provide opportunities to other people. Furthermore, we even now have a
technology to resolve our personal problems. However, we keep on keep relying
on the technology, and it is too much, especially in our country. People
nowadays, they always have their smartphones on hand, that it cannot complete
their day if they do not have that technology. With all this processes of
resolving problem, what it really matters above all is the discipline. The
discipline of how we use technology properly. As a cliché statement ‘Too much is
bad to our life’. And all of the topics that we have discussed in this meeting,
it realizes me about the discipline on how we use technology, and how we
develop technology. Because, Technopreneurship is about generating idea with
the use of technology to ease the life of the people. Though, technology is now
part of our life, and the development of the technology is way too fast, and it
cannot be controlled. However, it is all up to us how we are disciplined when
it comes to the use of the technology. And lastly, I learned a lot from these
topics that we have discussed, and I always learn something new every time we
will have a class in Technopreneurship. Our professor is really doing his best
to teach us all the necessary skills and attributes that must acquire on
becoming a Technopreneur in the future.
