Personality Trait Test (Reflection)

Personality Trait Test – Technopreneurship Reflection

As a college Information Technology student, knowing oneself is very important because it enables us to truly know ourselves, what we are, and what we want in life. Especially, in understanding our personality trait in being a Technopreneurship. Moreover, in a bookish explanation, a personality trait is a set of qualities of emotions, and/or a set of behavioral ways which makes a person different from other people, and on the other hand, a personality trait test (technopreneurial test) is a test to know yourself and as well as to see if you have a potential on becoming an entrepreneur.  Our professor let us took a personality trait test which determines if whether we have the potential to become a technopreneur or none. The personality trait test has possible results: the ‘not entrepreneurial,’ which means that you do not have the potential to become an entrepreneur. The ‘neutral,’ which means that either you are impartial to become an entrepreneur or you have unbiased thinking on becoming an entrepreneur.  The ‘somewhat entrepreneur,’ which means that you have the potential of becoming an entrepreneur. And the ‘very entrepreneurial,’ which indicates that you have high potential on becoming an entrepreneur, you possessed an entrepreneurial trait.

After taking the personality trait test that our professor has given to us, I got a result of ‘the somewhat entrepreneurial’ which means that I have a quite potential on becoming an entrepreneur. Knowing this, I got quite surprised of the result because, I expect that I will get a result of either a ‘the neutral’ or ‘the not entrepreneurial,’ and also because I always thought of myself that I have no potential on becoming an entrepreneur. And the result is very confusing because entrepreneurship is not my thing; I am not fond of entrepreneurship. Do I have to become an entrepreneur? Because of the personality trait result ‘somewhat entrepreneurial’ states that I have potential on becoming an entrepreneur. Because of this result, it reminds me of the last lesson that we had, about the mindsets that we usually have, the ‘to go school, get good grades, and create, own a company and be the boss.’ Do I have to become an entrepreneur? Being an entrepreneur is not that easy because you have to learn all the necessary aspects and you should have all the traits that the entrepreneur should have. Being an entrepreneur is also being self-mastered, you should have excellent communication skill because you have to convince the people, to get investments. Like Steve Jobs, he has all the factors of being an entrepreneur; he has excellent communication skill, and Steve Jobs was very determined to achieve his goals, and he was very passionate about his works. Because of these factors that Steve Jobs has, he was very successful in his career. Do I have to become like Steve Jobs? Having the result of ‘somewhat entrepreneurial’ does not mean that I have to become an entrepreneur, it only indicates that I have potential on becoming an entrepreneur. Should I become a technopreneur?

If I see myself as a Technopreneur, I have to learn all the necessary skills and core values that are needed for this kind of career. Learning the core values of entrepreneurship and self-mastery, it is not that easy. Thus I will put all my effort learning these values and mastering technopreneurship aspects. Also, I will take the same path as Steve Jobs path of a career as a technopreneur, and perhaps I will do more than Steve Job did in his past career, I will strive more just to achieve all the goals and objective that I wanted to reach. Moreover, if I really want to be a technopreneur, it will become more possible as our professor once said that he would do everything, and he will share all his knowledge to us, guiding us. Our professor is making sure that all of us will master all the core values in technopreneurship, the SEED mastery. The SEED core values are stands for Self-mastery (knowing oneself), Environment mastery (Knowing all the things around), Enterprise mastery, and the Development mastery. With our professor’s teaching and guidance, we will become a well-prepared technopreneur and as well as we can easily compete with other technopreneurs, and it will be a long journey on becoming a Technopreneur. But as of now, I will take my time, as I am still learning to become a well-prepared, and still learning Information Technology student to possess university’s core values of stewardship and professionalism which is required to become a premiere student, and becoming a technopreneur. And also, I will make it clear that if whether I really want to be a technopreneur or not. If I really want to be involved in the entrepreneurial world, determination, passion, and as well as believing in myself are needed to become a globally competitive technopreneur.

What is important is that we have to learn and understand first ourselves, knowing our personality traits, mastering our self, and identifying what things we love, what are the things that we are best at, what are the things that irritate us the most, and what are the goals that we want to achieve in life. Because it is essential in becoming an entrepreneur, and that are the things that our professor taught us about knowing ourselves. And as well as it can be treated as the first requirement in becoming an entrepreneur. Moreover, as Abraham Maslow (an American Psychologist) once said “If you deliberately plan to be less than you are capable of being, then I warn you that you will be deeply unhappy for the rest of your life. You will be evading your capacities; you own possibilities.” This means that we have to strive and persevere to become a capable being; we do not have to change ourselves. It just means that we have to become of what we really are. And this the problem that we commonly encounter. We do not need to think the problem as just a ‘problem’; we have to think the problem as an opportunity, the opportunity to know and understand more about ourselves, and knowing our capabilities.
